STEELE, Alex Oliver


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ September 1 & 8, 1993. Alex Oliver Steele died on Aug. 25, 1993, at Camelot Care Center in Peoria. He was 78 years old. Mr. Steele was born Jan. 19, 1915 in Chickasha, Okla., and had lived in Arizona for 41 years. Mr. Steele was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He attended church at the Church of God in Mesa. He retired from F. H. Hogue Produce in 1980. He had lived in Aguila since 1960. He is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 10 years; Alex Steele, Jr., of Porterville, Calif.; Raymond Steele of Aguila; Freddy Steele of Sunnyslope; Sammie Lowe of Decatur, Ill.; John W. Lowe of Phoenix; daughters Helen Louise King of Prescott Valley, Myrtle Cooper of Spring Valley, Helen Pettypool of Phoenix, Sharon Kupic of Decatur; sisters Ellen Hole of Kremlin, Okla., Lucille Wilson of Enid, Okla., and Cora Anne Unruh; and brothers Bert Steele of Westville, Ill., Buck of Fountain, Colo., and George of Sparks, Nev.; 48 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Steele was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Bishop, and a son, Billy Steele. Services were held at Wickenburg Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 30. Graveside services followed at the Aguila Cemetery. Visitation was at Wickenburg Funeral Home on Sunday, Aug. 29. Brother William Adams presided. Memorial contributions may be made to Camelot Care Center, 11311 N. 99th Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345. Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all the arrangements.
