LEVY, Cyril Dilmore (Rev.)

Black's Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Father Cyril Levy (July 13, 1925 - February 15, 2010) Rev. Cyril Dilmore Levy, 84, of McNary, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at Hospice Compassus in Payson. He was born July 13, 1925, in Wilmerding, PA, the son of Cyril C. and Helen A. (Dilmore) Levy. He attended St. Bernard's Seminary in Brighten, MI and St. John's Home Mission Seminar in Little Rock, AR. He was ordained on May 30, 1953 in Little Rock by Bishop Albert Fletcher for the Diocese of Gallup. In his 57 years as a priest, Father Levy served in many parishes in New Mexico and Arizona, including the following. He served as assistant at Santo Nino in Aragon, NM as one of his first assignments. He was assistant pastor of St. Mary's in Kingman, AZ in 1965, and then was appointed Administrator of Lake Havasu City in 1966. Fr. Levy was Administrator of St. Rita Church in Show Low, AZ and St. Mary of the Snow in Snowflake, AZ beginning in 1967. He was then assigned by Bishop Hastrich as the pastor of St. Vivian's in Milan, NM with a mission at San Mateo, NM in 1970. In 1978 he served in Page, AZ. For a short time, he served as pastor of Sacred Heart in Quemado, NM with its mission in Datil, NM in the early 1980's. Fr. Levy also served on the Navajo Reservation at St. Paul's parish in Crownpoint, NM. Finally, in retirement, he was administrator of St. Anthony in McNary, AZ from 1987 until he moved to Our Lady of the Snow in Snowflake, AZ as a senior priest of the diocese in the past few years. Viewing will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Black's Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited by Father Bill Day at 7:30 P.M., Friday, February 19, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Pinetop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Reverend James S. Wall, Bishop of the Diocese of Gallup, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 22, in the Priest's Section of Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallup, NM.
