Andrew Nichols, MD, died April 19, 2001, at the age of 64. An Arizona state senator credited as a champion of major public health and safety legislation, he was also a physician in family and community medicine and director of the University of Arizona Rural Health Office.
He received his medical degree from Stanford (class of 1964) and a master's in public health from Harvard.
