Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Posted: Wednesday, Feb 17th, 2010 Vernon L. Baker, 80 Former Globe-Miami resident Vernon L. Baker, 80, of Joseph, Ore. passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in La Grande, Ore. after a long illness. Vernon served as a police officer in Superior and Miami. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and coin collecting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Baker; one brother, Curtis; and two sisters, Catherine Scott and Freda Fleetwood. Vernon is survived by his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Joan and Vicky; three step-children, Cordy, Monty and Cresta; two brothers, Wayne Baker and Ronald Baker; one sister Velma Smith; and several nephews and nieces.
