Jay B. Armer, a descendant of the early Arizona pioneer families of Armer, Gilbert, Chilson, and Birchett was taken home to be with the Lord on Feb. 8, 2010. The son of John H. Armer and Mary Gilbert Armer, he was born April 22, 1939 in Phoenix. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Saundra Davies Armer; one son, Jay Armer II (Kristie); and two daughters, Debbie Armer and Deedee Armer Holden (Scott).
Also surviving are granddaughters Jessica Armer-Boitz Johnson (Todd), Alexandra Armer, Emily Armer and Lucy Armer; three step grandchildren, Cooper Holden, Beckett Holden and Mackenzie Holden; and two great-grandchildren, Julianna Johnson and baby Johnson. Other survivors include brother John H. Armer II and sister MaryCay Armer. Also included among the survivors are his sister-in-law, Stephanie Smeloff Davies; two nephews; two nieces; five grandnephews four grandnieces; one great-grandniece; and one great-grandnephew.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at Bethany Community Church in Tempe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Bible Society.
