ZOSPAH, Wilson


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/28/2003 Wilson Zospah, Sr., 81, died Feb. 15, 2003 at Navapache Regional Medical Center. Mr. Zospah was born Oct. 27, 1921 in Lake Valley, New Mexico. He married the late Violet Foster Zospah on April 7, 1944 in Phoenix. They made their home on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. In his early younger years, he worked on the range and worked as a log cutter. As time went on, he worked for the Navajo Sanitation and Baldwin Construction. He was noted for being one of the top construction dynamite powder men while working for the highway construction throughout the state of Arizona, places like Salt River Canyon, Black Canyon Highway and the first project of Haggin Hill. Later in his older years, he worked with Carl Cluff as a cement finisher until he retired. He then lived with his children on the reservation until his death. He attended many different churches. He is survived by his children; Marthann Yazzie, Trudy Zospah, Louis Zospah, Benny C. Zospah, Sr., and Wilson Zospah, Jr.; one brother, Leo Padilla of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Anna Gus and Mary Sandoval, both of Lake Valley, New Mexico and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1 at the Zospah residence in Carrizo. Interment will follow in the Carrizo Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary of Show Low.
