Elsie Blanche Mullen, 94, died March 20, 2003 in Lakeside.
Elsie was born Jan. 13, 1909 in Scotia, Missouri and has resided in Arizona since 1945. She was raised on the family farm in Scotia, Missouri. She married Joseph Emil Mullen Jan. 15. 1928 in a ceremony at the family farm in Crawford County Missouri. During WWII she worked in the blueprint section of a torpedo plant in St. Louis.
In 1945, they moved to Surprise. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Glendale for a number of years. When her husband retired from Catapillar Tractor Company Proving Ground in 1969, they moved to Lakeside. She enjoyed gardening, canning and the outdoors. For the past 24 years she has spent most of her time at her son's ranch at Hardcastle Gap, New Mexico. She loved ranching life, and the ranch families of Catron County.
She is survived by her son Norman J. Mullen of Lakeside. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Emil Mullen and son Emil Paul Mullen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at Fletcher's Mortuary in Show Low.
Interment will be in the Quemado, New Mexico Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fletcher's Mortuary in Show Low.

Elsie Blanche Mullen, 94, passed away March 20, 2003 in Lakeside, Arizona. Elsie was born January 13, 1909 in Scotia, Mo. She was the beloved daughter of James Albert Summers and Minnie Blanche Summers, nee Crabtree. She was raised on the family farm in Scotia, Mo.
She married Joseph Emil Mullen on January 15, 1928 in a ceremony at the family farm in Crawford County, Missouri.
During WWII she worked in the blue print section of the torpedo plant in St. Louis. In 1945, they moved to Surprise, Arizona. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Glendale, Arizona for a number of years.
When her husband retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Company Proving Ground in 1969, they moved to Lakeside. She enjoyed gardening, canning and the outdoors.

She is survived by her son, Norman J. Mullen of the home; one brother, Glen Summers of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Katherine Summers of Steelville, Mo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Emil Paul Mullen; her brothers, Ray Summers and wife Evana, William Summers, James Albert Summers, Jr. and wife Iva, Hugh Summers and Clarence Summers; and one sister, Maude Summers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Fletcher's Mortuary in Show Low, Arizona. Interment was in the Quemado, New Mexico Cemetery.
