Iola McCaughey, 89, of Sun City, AZ, died Thursday, June 19, 2003. She was born in Tankersly, Texas on February 13, 1914, the daughter of Rev. Lonnie and Alice (Williamson) Wilkirson. She was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
She married Carl McCaughey on March 26, 1931 and they ran a successful painting and decorating business in Illinois. After Carl died in 1964, she moved to Arizona and worked as manager of Scottsdale Condominiums.
She married Fred Bishop on August 22, 1973. He died in 1976. Iola is survived by three children; Margaret Tomkins of Sun City, Arizona; James McCaughey of Cuba, Illinois and Jerry McCaughey of Glendale, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Eastern Star and was a talented artist.
Memorial services will be held at the Congregational Church, 18401 99th Ave. in Sun City on Wednesday, June 25th at 11:00 AM.
