MONTAGUE, Christopher James


Christopher James Montague, was born April 29, 1918 in Alaquippa, PA and fell asleep in the Lord on June 19, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Angie Patricia Montague, a sister Alice Parkis of Pompeno Beach, FL, two daughters, Chryss Danielek and Thalia Zorbas, both of Phoenix, two stepsons, John and Robert Thompson and four grandchildren. Mr. Montague served in the Medical Corp during World War II and the Korean War and retired from the USAF as Lt. Colonel. As a Certified Public Accountant Chris was the Defense Department Regional Director for Auditing military contracts. In addition, he was an instructor for 25 years at Phoenix College where he taught accounting and auditing. Chris was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Phoenix since 1941. He served as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary for the Parish Council, teacher-director of the Sunday School, director of the Summer Camps and Vacation Bible School. His love for athletics led him to coach tennis to various student groups while serving the youth ministry's of Holy Trinity Cathedral. One thing Chris always looked forward to was providing recipes and endless hours baking bread for Church festivals and holidays. During the last 10 years he was also a parishioner at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria where he was a member of the Strategic Planning Committee and taught an Adult Bible Study Group. For his many years of dedicated service to the Greek Orthodox Church, Mr. Montague was awarded the St. Paul Medal of Service by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. Since building a beautiful new Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria was Chris's final dream and goal, he requested that in lieu of flowers; please make a donation to the Church Building Fund. Triszgon Services are Sunday evening, June 22nd at 7:00 P.M. at Sunland Mortuary, Del Webb Blvd. (107th Ave.) South of Bell Road - 15826 Del Webb Blvd. Funeral Services are Monday morning, June 23rd at 10:00 A.M. at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 10320 N. 84th Ave., Peoria.
