Norman W. Lorenzen, 78 of east Mesa passed away Monday May 5, 2003 in Mesa.
Mr. Lorenzen was born August 18, 1924 on the family farm in Frankfort, Illinois. He worked for International Harvester at their proving ground, testing heavy equipment. He retired in 1982 and spent the next 16 years volunteering with MMAP, a Christian service organization.
He and his wife Jean traveled the U.S., Canada, and Mexico volunteering with MMAP. Norman helped found and build Trinity Christian Fellowship Church in Chandler. He was also active in the Boy Scouts. Norman and Jean were always active in and devoted to their community of Chandler. In September Norman and Jean will have been married 50 years.
He is also survived by his daughter, Susan (Darrel) Westmoreland and his son Dale (Cindy) Lorenzen. He was preceded in death by his son Bill Lorenzen. Norman is the beloved grandfather of Caity Westmoreland, Dora and Brad Lorenzen and Brandy Holtman. Also surviving are Bradley Cole Lorenzen and Gavin Holtman, his loving great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday May 7, 2003 from 5-8 pm at Valley of the Sun Mortuary 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler and Thursday from 9-10 am at Trinity Christian Fellowship Church, 50 South McQueen Rd., Chandler. Funeral service will follow at the church at 10 am Thursday with interment at Valley of the Sun Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, Az 85016 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements are entrusted to Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 480/895-9232.
