Rae Anne Tyrrell, 62, formerly of Gilbert, AZ died of cancer June 18, 2003, in Olean, NY. Employed many years in the healthcare field in Gilbert. Survived by longtime companion Marion Boyce of Allegany, NY, mother Lois Schefield of Spanish Fork, UT; brother John Tyrrell of Tucson. Allegany, NY: Rae Anne Tyrrell of Allegany, formerly of Gilbert, AZ died Wednesday (June 18, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital after struggling with cancer for the past 18 months. Born November 18, 1940 in San Gabriel, CA she was the daughter of Oren W. and Lois Scheffield Tyrrell. Miss Tyrrell was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah and received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Weber State in Salt Lake City, UT, and her RN degree from Brigham Young University. She later received a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She served as a medic in the US Army during the Vietnam War. She worked in the healthcare field as a nurse first in Spanish Fork, and later in Olean since October 3, 1999. As a public health nurse and as a home health nurse, her special interest in helping disenfran-chised people led her to providing nursing skills to groups of people such as the homeless, Vietnam veterans, immigrants and the mentally ill. Her most recent employment was in the mental health unit of Olean General Hospital which her illness forced her to retire from in 2002. Miss Tyrrell was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, the American Nurses Association and the NYS Nurses Association Surviving are her mother of Spanish Fork; a brother John (Janice) Tyrrell of Tucson, AZ; many nieces and nephews and a longtime companion Marion Boyce, with whom she resided in Allegany. She was predeceased by her father and a sister, Geraldine Christianson. There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (June 21, 2003) at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the family lot in Spanish Fork City Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
