A true "car guy" Dean J. Ullmann, 63, of Pinetop formerly from Scottsdale died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at a Scottsdale Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
Siegfried "Dean" John Ullmann was born March 3, 1946, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Siegfried and Marie Ullmann. He was raised and attended schools in Stratford, Conn., and went on to get his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. After his college graduation, Dean joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam Conflict.
He moved to Arizona in the early 70s where he began his career in real estate and had been a licensed broker since 1978. He was always one to switch careers and went on to becoming a home builder and then an auto broker.
But Dean's true passion was his love for classic cars which he was able to turn into a business for himself. He was a member of various Car Clubs throughout the years but his love for Oldsmobile's kept him active with the Oldsmobile Club of America. Even after his moved to Pinetop in 2004 with his wife, Lynnette they sought out the car enthusiasts on the mountain and got involved with the Run to the Pines Classic Car Show.
He is survived by his wife Lynnette (Beedle) Ullmann of Pinetop; daughter Christine Danielle Ullmann of Seattle, Wash.; son Dean (Dino) Ullmann Jr. of Phoenix; step-son Tony (Natalie) Trout Jr. of Chicago, grandson Jonas Trout; sisters Judy (David Tomasko) Morello of Lakeside, Cynthia Ullmann of Lighthouse Pt, Fla. and brother Steve Ullmann of Scottsdale. He is also survived by his beloved pug, Otis.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Baptist Church of Pinetop, 1901 E. White Mountain Blvd. There will also be a Celebration of Dean's life to be held Sunday, Feb. 28, at the home of Danielle and Peggy Ullmann, 8417 N. Via De Lago in Scottsdale.
