HASKINS, Billy J. (Bill)


Billy J. "Bill" Haskins, 77, of Arizona City died Aug. 29, 2002 in Casa Grande. Mr. Haskins was born April 2, 1925 in Morrill, Neb., to William and Merle (Wallburn) Haskins. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a greens keeper at the city golf course in Torrington, Wyo., for 10 years before moving to Arizona City eight years ago. He was an avid golfer, loved to read and talk on the telephone. He enjoyed his friends in the community. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1681 and a member of Elks and Moose. Survivors include a son, Michael Haskins of Lincoln, Neb.; four sisters, Verna Canfield of Torrington, Donna Gulley of Douglas, Wyo., Maxine Lamberson of Mitchell, Neb., and Grace Senteney of Fort Laramie, Wyo.; two brothers, Dale Haskins of Torrington and Raymond Haskins of Douglas; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Adelaide (Meier), in 1990, and a daughter, Kay Marie, in 1985. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Simes Mortuaries Casa Grande Chapel, with Pastor Harley Faber officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
