Merlin D.
Merlin D. Vincent, 84, passed away on November 14, 2002 in Mesa, Az. Merlin was born to Dana and Mildred Vincent on October 18, 1918 in Stromsburg, Nebraska.
He attended Mt. Lebanon High School in 1937 and then attended ASU. Merlin married Dorothy Shuback-Vincent in the late 1930's and had three children. He enlisted into the U.S. Army with the 1387th Service Command Unit. During WW II, Merlin was captured in occupied France on December 21, 1944, he was then listed as a POW. On April 1, 1945, he was released from capture. He received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and 9 Medals and Honors. He was a Plant Engineer and was employed by Goodyear, Motorola, and Desert Samaritan Hospital. Merlin was known for his hobbies of beer can collecting and his Goldwing motorcycle. He and his family moved to Az in 1952 from Wisconsin.
Preceded in death by his second wife Wilda and 2 sisters Helen and Berle. Survived by his sons, Terry, Dana, and Ron stepdaughter Melinda & (Don) Urrea and sister Betty of Florida.
