Marjorie Elizabeth Gatlin, born March 25, 1910 in Paris, Texas, daughter of Edward and Fannie Lou Dillard. Died June 21, 2003 at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49-1/2 years, Homer B. Gatlin and grandson Kyle Grubaugh. Survived by daughters Lou Grubaugh and her husband Ken of Davis, California and Janice Hurst and her husband Les of Scottsdale; three grandsons, Karl Grubaugh (Tanya) of Cameron Park, California, Jim Grubaugh of Sacramento, California and Todd Hurst (Michelle) of Mesa; two granddaughters, Jill Hurst Boyce (Chris) of Paradise Valley and Anna Lynn Grubaugh-Baker (Neal) of Santa Rosa, California; six great-grandchildren, Lauren, Connor and Garrett Grubaugh, Kerry and Kyle Baker, Jacob Boyce.
Marjorie came to Arizona in 1926, at the age of 16. She graduated from high school in Gila Bend, Arizona and was married in 1931 to Homer Gatlin, whose family was among early Arizona pioneers. She and her husband owned a cattle ranch in Gila Bend and he also worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. They lived in Gila Bend until 1956 when they moved to Yuma, Arizona. After her husband's death in 1981, she remained in Yuma until 1986 when she moved to Scottsdale.
Graveside services will be held at Pioneer Cemetery in Gila Bend, Arizona at 9:00 a.m. Wed, June 25, 2003. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH), 8994 E. Desert Cove, Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Messinger Indian School Chapel assisted the family.
