ROWLEY, Dean A. (Dr.)


Dr. Dean A. Rowley. Dad: Farewell to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, physician and friend. Dr. Dean A. Rowley, 82, passed away in his home in Mesa, Arizona, Friday June 20th, 2003, from natural causes. He was born in Spring Glen, Utah, September 4th, 1920 to Silas and Lucretia Anderson Rowley. Dean graduated from Carbon High School and Carbon Jr. College now known as the College of Eastern Utah. He served three years in the Spanish American Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then served four years in the United State Army. He graduated in 1950 with his M.D. from the University of Utah, and did his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa. After 40 years of private practice, he delivered over 15,000 babies. He married Christine Yenzi June 8th, 1950, and they had six children. He is survived by his 5 children Mark (Pam), Lynn, Paul (Robin), Keith (Marcy) and Barbara Parker (James) all of Mesa, AZ, 16 grandchildren, sisters Beth Baxter (Parley), and brother Grant Rowley of Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife Christine, sisters Larue, Edith and infant daughter Martha. Dr. Dean devoted his life to his family and maternal/infant health. He set a great example of quiet dignity, strength and compassion. He loved growing roses and the outdoors. The twinkle in his eyes, smiling behind a surgical mask, warmed all of our hearts. His friends and colleagues will remember his sense of humor, professionalism and loyalty. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28th, at 10am at the Park Center Ward, 422 E. University in Mesa. Visitation will be held Friday Night from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Meldrums Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald St. and one hour prior to the service at the ward building. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund, Park Center Ward, 422 E. University, Mesa, 85021.
