MCCLURE, Joel Alexander

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 23, 2003 Joel Alexander McClure, 18 years young, went to be with his savior on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. He left behind his Loving Parents Lawrence H. & Pamela J. McClure, David & Donna Lynn Light; brothers - Lawrence Jr., Richard Edwards, Cory Light; Sisters Amanda Edwards & Holly Light; Grandparents Shirley McClure, Marilyn & Hank Birk, Eugene & Joan Cecil, Dawn Langill, Dianne & Vic Avenetti, Samuel & Martha Light, Great Grandmother Verna Chubbuck; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and countless friends. A native of Arizona, from the time Joel was a small boy he was known for his infectious smile. It preceded him where ever he went. If you would ask any of his family or friends they would tell you no matter the circumstance, Joel always wore that smile. He had many varied interests. Joel's interest in sports started, at the age of 4 with T-Ball. His love of sports never left him. He was an avid weight lifter and he participated in football, baseball, wrestling, boarding & skiing. Joel's convictions were strong. He was involved with Christian Youth Organizations, Wyld Life & Young Life, both Christian youth organizations. He attended North Phoenix Baptist Church with his brother Larry and his friends. Joel touched many lives with his faith, during his life and his life continues to affect those who knew him, even now. No one, who knew Joel, will ever be able to fill the void left by his passing. Joel was to have graduated May 27, 2003 from Thunderbird High School. His plans were to continue his formal education at Glendale Community College. Visitation will be held Friday, April 25th, from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 AM. Both visitation and service will be held at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave., Phx. Interment following Memorial Service at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Ave., Glendale. A reception to follow at Community of Grace Church, 14120 N. 79th Ave., Peoria.
