Larry Jack Richmond, 63, of Phoenix, passed away Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003, after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Larry was born Aug. 19, 1939 in Oskaloosa, IA, where he was raised by his parents Jack and Bettie Richmond. He then went to Drake University where he graduated from law school and became involved with the Young Republicans and found himself president. In 1964 he worked with Senator Barry Goldwater's presidential campaign which led to his move to Arizona.
Larry had many achievements and was involved in numerous organizations during his years in AZ. Easter Seals was dear to his heart and he was proud to be a member of both the Arizona and the National Board of Directors. Larry was also known and respected for his honesty, integrity and professionalism throughout his legal and lobbying career.
He loved the "strategizing". Larry raised his 3 daughters Kirsten Fulkerson (Jeff), Circe Boman (Chuck) and Dierdre Quinn in the Phoenix area. He is survived by his mother Bettie, his brother Chuck, son Todd R. Bruce (Cherie) and 2 stepsons, David and Steve Richmond by a previous marriage. Larry married his wife, Mary, in 1989 and helped raise 2 more stepsons, Tucker and Christian Hancock. In 1997 he took on another responsibility, that of moving in an infant granddaughter, Ciera and her mother Edna. Larry has 11 more grandchildren, Taylor, Bradley and Lindsey Fulkerson of Scottsdale. Chase, Caylee and Carson Boman of Loveland, CO. Jaime and Justin Quinn of Phoenix. Kera Bruce of Paso Robles, CA and Oliver and Savanna Richmond of Olathe, KS.
Larry will be dearly missed by his family and numerous friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 24 at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. from 5 to 7 PM.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, April 25, at All Saints Episcopal Church.
The family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
