The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, April 23, 2003 Stanley A. Tkacz, 93, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away April 18, 2003. A visitation is planned for Friday, April 25, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Church, 3201 S. Evergreen Road., Tempe, AZ followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be for family members only. Stanley was born in Poland and attended the Polish military academy. When World War II began, he escaped from Poland and fought with the Polish forces under British command. He was an officer and decorated veteran. During the war, he helped liberate the home town of his future wife, Johanna Sloekers. They were married in October, 1945, and moved to Phoenix in 1951. Stanley worked for Sky Chef's until he retired in 1975. In 1984 he and his wife moved to Sun Lakes. Stanley is survived by his wife, Johanna, daughters, JoAnne Scoccia and Sabina Elliott, 2 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Eugene.
