Copper Basin News Kearny, Az 2/23/2010 Grace Sellick Marin, 84, passed away at her home in Winkelman on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. She was born in Winkelman, Oct. 17, 1925, and had been living in Globe for 28 years, and, then, the last six years in her present home. Always a devoted caregiver, Mrs. Marin had assisted her aunt, husband, and each of her parents until their passing. She loved to read, sew, recite the rosary prayers, and watch carefully the news, particularly on CNN. A dedicated mother, Grace had worked in 1943 as a clerk at Jacome's Department Store in Tucson, in the 1960s at Parker's Grocery store in Winkelman, as a dispatcher with the Hayden Police as a dispatcher from 1970 -72, at the Motor Vehicle Division from 1971 – 1993, and as a Walmart Greeter from 1993- 2005. Two daughters, Joanne Marin of Globe and Yvonne Marin of Edmonton, Canada, and two sons, Joe Marin of Winkelman and Richard Marin of Globe, survive; there are two brothers and sisters living: James (Mary) Sellick of California, Lawrence (Josephine) Sellick of Globe, Elma Solano of Coolidge, and Teresa Pena of Globe; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren (with one more on the way) also survive her. Services for Mrs. Marin will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hayden. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Dale Branson at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery. Griffith Mortuary of Kearny assisted the family.
