Timothy Carter Jones, 38, died in Pinetop April 19, 2003.
Tim was born Jan. 1, 1965 in McNary and lived in Pinetop most of his life. He was the best "Happy New Year" gift his mom and dad could have ever asked for. His two older sisters and one older brother though he was the best too. Being seven years younger than the next oldest child, Tim was doted on by a family that adored him. His next oldest sister thought that mom had brought home the cutest 'doll' she has ever seen. He had the best laugh!
Although Tim wasn't born with a fishing pole in his hand or with a chef's hat on his head as he grew from boy to man, he would rather be fishing at one of his favorite spots on Hawley Lake or cooking up some fabulous meal than be anywhere else.
Tim graduated from Blue Ridge High School, he loved to cook and worked as a chef in restaurants in places like Phoenix, Yellowstone Park, and the Grand Canyon. He decided to pursue his passion for cooking by attending and graduating from the culinary arts program at Scottsdale Community College. After graduation, with the help of his family he opened a restaurant in Willcox, called the Dining Car. After returning to Pinetop, he continued to cook at various restaurants in the White Mountains.
In addition, over the years he was also a clerk and assistant manager at the Circle K store in Pinetop. For the last few years he has been a clerk at the Hallum Gas Station in Pinetop. His co-workers were as saddened by his passing as his family and will miss him greatly.
Tim loved to tease and tell jokes. He had his mother's gift for never meeting a stranger. His kindness to others was genuine and given with no expectations. He reached out and gave to others out of a pure love and generosity of spirit and not because he though he was going to get something in return.
Tim's family loved him beyond words and measure. His family will miss him forever. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Ann Stratton Jones of Pinetop; siblings, Janice Lynn Brenner (Richard and children, Tony and Beth) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Dalton Jones (Kelley and children, Lauren and Kyle) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and LeiAnne Jones of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam B. Jones, Jr.
In addition, Tim has a large extended family and group of friends that are deeply saddened by his sudden death and will miss his bright smile forever.
To honor Tim's life, his family will be holding a memorial service Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Join his family in celebrating Tim's life and mourning his abrupt passing.
The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to an account set up in Timothy Carter Jones' name at any Banc One for the renovation of streams and reintroduction of the Apache native trout in White Mountain regional streams through the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
Arrangements are being handled by Owens Mortuary of Show Low.
