Died--Thursday, January 18, 1900, at Chaparral, Ida, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Murray of Lynx Creek.
The death of this child is particularly sad, coming after many weeks of great suffering borne with patience and sweetness few grown persons could have equalled.
More than two months ago she received a seemingly slight injury on the head while playing in the door-yard. A little later spinal meningitis set in and in spite of all that care and medical treatment could do the little one grew steadily worse.
Three weeks ago she was taken to Chaparral for more frequent treatment and there she died. She was brought home for burial and laid to rest in a beautiful spot near the foot of a rugged granite mountain in sight of the home she had made brighter by her presence. Many friends assisted in the simple service, singing at the grave her favorite song: "Home, Sweet Home", which she had tried to sing only a few days before her death.
Ida was the fourth and youngest daughter, having not yet reached her fifth birthday, and was a very bright and promising child. Her sweet disposition won the love of all who knew her, and parents and friends will hold her in tender remembrance.
Frail blossom, shaken from Life's tree
Ere its first petals could unclose;
White rosebud that will never be
An open rose.
The winds of earth were all too chill
To speed your early blossoming.
So you were by a sweeter will
Transplanted to eternal spring.
We yield you now to dreamlesss rest--
We'll find you, who have loved you best,
A perfect flower.
