MCCALEB, Thomas B.


Thomas B. McCaleb, 1931-2003, 72, of Somers, CT, died at his home on Thursday, June 19, 2003. Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he attended schools in Luray and Front Royal, Virginia, and graduated Virginia Tech in 1952 with a degree in metallurgical engineering. After two years in the army, he moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he worked for Reynolds Metals and Air Research. Subsequently, he worked as business manager for the ARE Clinic and then joined in establishing the Leavitt, McCaleb & Frary medical-management consulting firm. In 1982 he moved with his family to Missoula, Montana, where he became the manager of the Western Montana Clinic, after which he accepted a position as administrator of the Pediatrics Department at Rhode Island Hospital, where he served 10 years until his retirement in 1999. He subsequently, moved to Somers, CT and worked as a medical management consultant in the Healthcare Management, Inc., in West Springfield, MA. He was a member of the Medical Group Managers Association and became a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He received his MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He was a member of Pi Delta Epsilon, the Kiwanis Club of Springfield, the Trinity United Methodist Churth of Springfield, and the Springfield Symphony Chorus. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ann Child McCaleb, and two sons Peter and Michael, and loving daughter-in-law Catherine, all of Warwick, Rhode Island, and one brother John and his wife Tsuneko, of Woodstock, VA. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, 2003, from 7-8:30 P.M. in the parlor of Trinity United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Sringfield, MA, Saturday, June 28th at 10 A.M.
