Mildred R. Popowich, 78, of Sun City West, AZ, died June 20, 2003. Military service: U.S. Army Veteran (WAC). Visitation on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 from 1-3pm with a Rosary to begin at 3pm at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ.

Mildred Rose Popowich, 78, born March 16, 1925 in Sugar Notch, PA, Passed away on June 20, 2003 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She is survived by her husband, William J. (BilI) Popowich of Sun City West AZ. Mildred was an IBM retiree in 1984, WWII veteran WAC serving in the Medical Corps as a surgical technician. She attended San Jose College, earned her AA degree in 1975 and went on to obtain her BA in Philosophy in 1977.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She loved dancing and was a member of the Christopher Girls, the Rhythm Tappers and Ballet and Modern Dance Club. But most dear to her heart, was becoming a life member in the society of the First Infantry Division, "The Big Red One." Her brother James served gallantly in The Big Red One and died only weeks before the war ended. Their motto, "No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great. Duty first."
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2003 from 1-3 PM with a rosary to begin at 3 PM at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel 13738 Camino del Sol Sun City West, AZ. In Lieu of flowers please contact the funeral home. A scholarship fund will be set up in Mildred's name. 623-584-6299.
