Walter "Eddie" Handsaker, 78, of Marysville, Calif., passed away Feb. 12, 2010, at Rideout Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Hornbrook, Calif., and lived in Prescott for many years where he worked at Rusing House.
Walt was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and prospecting. He was a life member of the NRA and the North American Hunting Club.
He was a life member of the Lost Dutchman's Mining Association and an active member of the Yuba-Sutter Treasure Seekers.
Walt had a lifelong passion for softball and played actively into his 70s, most recently in the Yuba-Sutter senior league.
A loving husband and father, Walt is survived by his wife Kathy, to whom he was married for 53 years; his sons, Robert of Charlemont, Mass., and Richard of Eatonville, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Julia, Michael and Aleah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fremont-Rideout Cancer Center in Marysville, Calif.
