RUANE, Robert John

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Tuesday, Feb 23rd, 2010 Mr. Robert John Ruane, 75, of McNeal, Ariz., passed away on Feb. 19, 2010. He was born on Dec. 8, 1934 in Scranton, Penn., the son of John and Alice (McCarthy) Ruane. He worked as a real estate broker in Arizona. He graduated from Springfield College in 1956 with a bachelor’s of science of degree. He moved to Arizona in 1958. He also worked as a math teacher for the Arizona public schools and volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting with his dogs, Feleze and Ginger. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Ruane. Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan M. Ruane; his children, Darcy Ely and husband Gary, Wade Ruane and wife Heather, Judy Ihrig and husband Paul, his sister, Terri Flinton and husband Robert; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Private services were held. The family requests memorials be sent to: Boy Scout Troop 401 Bisbee, 4955 W. Windmill Lane, McNeal, Ariz., 85617. Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family.
