HILLER, J. Michael


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, April 24, 2003 J. Michael Hiller, age 55. Mike lost his courageous battle with brain cancer on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. Mike was born in Seattle, WA on November 5, 1947. He graduated from the University of Washington. In 1979 Mike began his career with Restaura (Greyhound Food Manage-ment), and held several positions at Viad Corporation in Corporate Development. From 2000-2002 he served as Vice President of Logistics and Corporate Development for Exhitgroup/Giltspur, a subsidiary of Viad. In 2002 in accepted the position of President of Formations, Inc. in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Mike enjoyed running and riding his Harley. He was a member of the Arizona Road Racers and a Charter member of the Foothills Chapter of the HOG (Harley Owners Group). Mike is survived by his wife, Lisa, daughter Stephanie and step-daughters Kelsey and Kaitlin Quan. Mike is also survived by his father John Hiller, brother Steve Hiller and sister Becky Avcu all of Seattle and his brother Jeff Hiller of Carson City, NV. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary. Mike will be dearly missed by his family, extended family, and numerous friends and business associates through the country. Visitation to be from 7-9 PM on Friday, April 25 at AL Moore, 710 W. Bethany Home Road. Funeral to be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 26 at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th Street. Mike's family is indebted to Hospice of the Valley for care they extended to Mike and to them during the past few months and to the staff and doctors of Barrow Neurological Institute.
