Henry William Merold, 83, died Monday, April 21, 2003. A resident of Phoenix for 35 years, Mr. Merold and his family had lived previously in Rhode Island and Connecticut.
Mr. Merold was born in New Rochelle, NY. After graduating with honors from Columbia University, he served as an officer in the U.S. Army, then earned a Master's Degree from Columbia in Business Administration.
Recruited into General Electric's Management Training Program, Mr. Merold began a career in Administration with GE, then with Honeywell, from which he retired in 1986. A member of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, Mr. Merold served on various boards. He attended Phoenix Symphony regularly and was an avid collector of Native American Art.
Mr. Merold is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Moore, and his daughters, Anne Merold Durkin, of Scottsdale, and Beth Merold Gerson of Stamford, CT, as well as his grandchildren Elisabeth and Edward Durkin, and Timothy and Laura Gerson. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Friday at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church.
