John J. Twombly, 86, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died April 22, 2003. Born March 21, 1917 in Rochester, New Hampshire he graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, Vermont, lettering in tennis and baseball.
Following U.S. Army service he worked at Goddard's Bakery in Claremont, New Hampshire then went into hardware sales and later for 35 years with the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in New Hampshire and Plattsburgh, New York. He established a general agency in Scottsdale in the early seventies and retired in 1997. He was a member of St. Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church, the Arizona Country Club, the Masons and was a loyal Red Sox fan.
Preceded in death by his son John, he is survived by his wife of 67 years Eleanor of Scottsdale, daughter Judith J. Twombly of Loudonville, NY, daughter-in-law Barbara Louko Twombly of Spencer, NY and a sister, Glenrose Sheridan of Lyndonville, VT.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Scottsdale Village Square, 2620 N. 68th Street.
