Virgil Bernard
Virgil Bernard Fredericksen, 81 of Phoenix, AZ passed away April 11, 2003. He was born in Seneca, Iowa on November 15, 1921. Virgil was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
After serving his country he worked for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in the brain research area and helped in the development of an automatic anesthesia machine that is used during surgical operations.
He and his family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1953 where he worked at the Reynolds Plant, and then at Motorola as an engineering assistant in Quality Assurance, retiring in 1989 after 35 years. Virgil was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #21 in Rochester, MN, a Past Monarch of the Rameses Grotto of Phoenix, and Past Royal Patron of Phoenix Chapter #1, Order of the Amaranth. He was a long time member of American Ev. Lutheran Church of Phoenix, AZ where he was involved in many volunteer aspects of church life.
Preceded in death by six weeks, by his wife Ruthe, he is survived by his children Vincent Fredericksen, Denver, CO, Juanita Saurer of Phoenix, AZ, stepdaughter Susan Walker of Dallas, TX. Three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Am. Lutheran Church 1830 W. Glenrosa. Contributions in his memory may be made to the church.
