Mary Aristeen Ogden of Tempe, Arizona, passed away on June 24, 2003. She was 68. Mary was born on October 6, 1934 in Bowling Green, Ohio and was the oldest of three children of Helen and John Hendricks. She was raised in nearby Weston with her brothers Tom and Mike.
Mary earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio. She married Michael Ogden, a physician, whom she met at the university. As they moved around the country with the Public Health Service, Mary and Michael adopted four children, Peter, Mark, Elizabeth and Vicky. The family moved to New Mexico in 1969 and finally to Tempe in 1979.
Mary is lovingly known as "Grammy-O" to her seven grandchildren, all of whom live in the Phoenix area. Mary's life was devoted to caring for others - as a mother, as a grandmother, as a nurse, and as an active member of many Christian organizations.
She was President of Tempe Women's Aglow Fellowship and very involved with their International Students ministry at ASU. She also actively supported the Frontiers missionary organization. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Tri-City Calvary Chapel, 2334 E Southern Ave in Tempe on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 10am. There will be a visitation at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave in Tempe, 5pm-8pm on Friday, June 27. Memorial contributions may be made to Frontiers, P.O. Box 31690, Mesa, Arizona, 85275-1690. Tempe Mortuary handling the arrangements.
