Ruth Eleanor Cain Sobel, 81, of Scottsdale, passed away, December 15, 2002. She was born in Fairhope, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1921 and spent most of her adult life in Garden City, Long Island and Scottsdale, AZ. She was the beloved wife of L. Arthur Sobel for fifty-seven years and devoted her life to her family. Prior to moving to Scottsdale, Ruth was an active member of the Garden City Historical Society and the Cathedral of the Incarnation where she served as President of the Cathedral Women from 1978 to 1979. She was a founding Board member of the Cornelia Cotillion. She is survived by her loving husband, L. Arthur. Her devoted family include: son, Arthur Robert; daughter, Saundra and her husband William G. Johnson; daughter Patricia and her husband Paul Stanton; grandson Matthew Stanton; granddaughter, Laura Johnson; Grandson Todd and his wife Zeny Rea and great-granddaughter, Sara Rea. Services will be held Friday, December 20, 2002 at Noon at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. Interment of her ashes will be in Port Washington, New York. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Church of the Ascension, Children's Building Fund or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
