MILLER, Marion Ai


Marion Ai Miller, 89, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away Monday, May 5. 2003 in Tempe. Mr. Miller was born in Gray, Iowa, moving to the valley in 1960. At the age of 16 Ai, as he was known to his family and friends, joined the U.S. Marine Corps, later graduating from the high school in Audubon, Iowa in 1935. Ai enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, graduating in the Aviation Cadet Class 40-F. He met a young army nurse. Elnora, later marrying her in Des Moines, Iowa. Ai continued serving in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot, retiring as a Lt. Colonel with over 30 years of service. He received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from A.S.U. in 1965. Al was a member of the University Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Retired Officer's Assn and a 3rd Degree Mason. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 60 years, Elnora; his sons, Alan (Bonnie) and Ai (Patty) Miller and 2 sisters, Dora (Dale) Root and Jessie (Chuck) Fisher. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick (Iva Mae). A military graveside service will be Monday May 12, 2003 at 2:00PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to HospIce of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements by Tempe Mortuary.
