Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona December 17, 1970, page 14 Funeral services were held in the Ruffner Funeral Home in Prescott December 11 for Vertie W. Hale, age 73, Phoenix resident who lived in Wickenburg from 1946 until 1952 where he was associated with the Safeway Store. He had retired in the latter year and moved to Prescott. He moved to Phoenix in September of this year. Burial was in the Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott. Mr. Hale was a native of Independence, Iowa, and had moved to Arizona in 1920. He was in the retail business in Prescott before coming to Wickenburg. His surviving wife Agnes was also well known here, having been employed in the Wickenburg office of the Valley National Bank from 1952 until 1958. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William B. McLaws and two sons, Frank G. and Howard B. all of Phoenix. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
