Tony Medina
On July 20, 2005, after a lengthy illness, Tony Medina began his ascension home. Tone, as he was known to friends and family, was born on Nov. 5, 1934, to James G. and Mary Medina. He was both born and raised in Prescott.
Tony served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 at the age of 16 during the Korean War, where he was aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Mansfield. Tony traveled around the world and crossed the equator three times. He ventured to Australia, Japan, the Philippines and other countries. Tony was a proud, decorated and honored combat veteran who treasured America.
After his service, Tony worked in the Arizona mining industry as an underground miner. He loved his family, nature, boxing and life. Tony fed any wild animals he came into contact with. He was a pundit of modern history and always enjoyed a good anecdote. Tony will always be remembered as a man of great dignity who valued loyalty, respect, reciprocation and his convictions.
Tony Medina is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Michael (Becky), Chad (Michelle), and Joey; daughter, Lorrie Pieratt (Dan); three grandchildren, Jason, Derek and Logan; brothers, Pilar, Joe; and sisters, Betty, Dolores. He also had numerous nephews and nieces.
Tony's family thanks each other and their friends for their nurturing during this time. Especially Tony's wife, Carol, brother, Pilar (affectionately known to the family as "Uncle Chito") and his aforementioned children. May the good Lord continue to bless you with strength, vision, and courage.
