Opal Marie Cochran, 82, of Wheatfields, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at her residence. She was born on April 15, 1927 in Hyman, Texas, the daughter of Lawrence and Desi (Cotton) Draggo.
She worked for Motorola (Electronics) as an assembly person. She also worked at Yellow Front. She taught crafts at Gila Pueblo College, and enjoyed crocheting, doing macrame and painting. Opal loved to teach Bible School, gardening and flowers.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Mataseck.
Opal is survived by her husband, B. Frank Cochran, of Wheatfields, Ariz.; her daughters, Sue Queen, of Tulsa, Okla., and Janet “Penni” Thompson (Stan), of Globe, Ariz.; her sister, Cindy Poston, of Tonto Basin, Ariz.; and her half-sisters, Pam Boushaw, of Astoria, Ore., and Jean Hayes, of Payson, Ariz.
Memorial services will be held at Wheatfields Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Private interment services were held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Ariz. The family requests memorials be sent in Opal’s name to Wheatfields Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1507, Claypool, AZ 85532.
