Ray V. Beason, 83, of Globe, Ariz., passed away on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1926, in Blue Mountain, Ark., the son of Pearl (Rhodes) and Vergil V. Beason.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Surgical Technician.
After the service he moved to Miami, Ariz. and worked for Arizona Edison, which became Arizona Public Service (APS), for 36 years. He started a backhoe service with Dave Jonovich known as Bo-Ark Construction.
Ray was a member of Word of Life Assembly of God in Miami, serving as secretary/treasurer and did all the maintenance work for over 43 years. Having a servant's heart, Ray showed his faith by the way he lived. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; and a good man doing anything he could for anyone at anytime. Ray will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him.
Ray leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 59 years, La Vada (Woods) Beason, of Globe, Ariz., whom he married on June 10, 1950; one daughter, Rayla Mills and her husband Byron, of Globe; two sons, Dave Beason and his wife Shirley, of Globe, Ariz., and Joey Beason and his wife Rue, of Los Alamitos, Calif.; one sister, Shirley Jean Hundley and her husband Wesley, of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Layel, April, Tiffany, Josh, Matthew, Josiah, Caleb, Benjamin and Elias; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Vergil and Pearl Beason; two sisters, Ophie Haugh and Marie Loyed; and one brother, Guy Beason.
Visitation was held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Word of Life Assembly of God, 1011 Live Oak St., Miami, Ariz. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Word of Life Assembly of God. Interment was at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral arrangements for Ray V. Beason were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services, Miami.
