DAVIS,

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona
June 11, 1970
Hundreds of sorrowing friends paid their last respects to Specialist 4 Donald A. Davis, son of Mr. & Mrs. Chester Davis at the Wickenburg Funeral Home and later at the Wickenburg Cemetery at 10 o’clock last Friday morning, June 5. Many expressed the belief it was the largest funeral assemblage in the history of Wickenburg.
G. B. Huthmacher, Minister of the Church of Christ officiated at the Funeral Home. A contingent of soldiers from Fort Huachuca served as pallbearers and conducted the impressive graveside flag rites for the heroic local youth who was killed in action in Vietnam May 24 just a few weeks after receiving the U.S. Army’s Commendation Medal for heroism on the battlefield.
Specialist 5 David Hollingshead, a former classmate at Wickenburg high School escorted the body of Spec. Davis here from Oakland, Calif., where Hollingshead is stationed. Mrs. Davis was unable to attend her son’s funeral. She was a patient in Community Hospital following major surgery and was not discharged until last Saturday.
