Francis Norwood Bard, who died January 23 in Community Hospital was leading Chicago industrialist who was prominently identified with cattle raising and ranching in Yavapai County for nearly 40 years. His Bard Ranch on Kirkland Creek in the Yava area consisted of some 300,000 acres and, with hits vast irrigated fields, was a showplace of the county. It was here that Mr. Bard developed the Barzona Breed of cattle, now known thought the cattle industry. The bulls of that breed are in big demand.
Mr. & Mrs. Bard were guests at Rancho de los Caballeros here when he was stricken last week and taken to the hospital.
The family home is in Barrington, Illinois, and funeral services and burial were to take place there.
He is survived by his wife Phoebe; two daughters, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all living out of state.
