Marjorie Jovita Smith

Margorie Jovita Smith, of Show Low entered eternal life Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at her home in Show Low. She was 90. She was born November 16, 1919 in El Paso, TX to the late Tomera and Christine (Ferguson) Hilworth, who are buried in Eagle Rock, CA.
Marjorie's father, Tomera was the 1st American Child born on the Island of Sendai, Japan to the Baptist Missionaries. He moved to the United States at the age of 17 to attend college at Berkley. He later went on to be a Japanese translator during WWII. Following WWII he returned to the United States and married Christine Ferguson and they decided to then start their family. Marjorie's family lived various places throughout Arizona and California for a short time since her father worked for the railroad.
Marjorie was employed with the communications department for Civil Services at Fort Bliss, TX before retiring after over 30 years of service. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a missionary leader in El Paso, TX and serving in various other jobs throughout the church.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Jeanne Elizabeth (Don) Hunsaker of Show Low, Deanna Faye Crowder of Seven Points, TX and Carole Leslie (Richard) Eason of Rio Vista, TX; son, Tom Wilson Ledet of Show Low; grandchildren; Lynn Hunsaker, Brian Crowder, Darin Crowder, Jennifer Meelkop, Leslie Cassi, Marianne Holland, Aaron Ledet, Angela Bankston, Justin Ledet; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry T. Hilworth of Kansas; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bunker Smith; son-in-law, William T. Crowder; granddaughter, Kathi Webb and sister, Sanchia F. Case.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday March 12, 2010 at the Owens Livingston – White Mountain Chapel 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low, Arizona.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation hr. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Lakeside Cemetery, Lakeside, Arizona.
