RENTZ, Martha

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Wednesday, March 3, 2010 Martha Rentz, 57, died mid-February of hypothermia on her property in Valle. Born July 13, 1952, in West Virginia, Ms. Rentz later became a hospitality worker in northern Arizona, a gardener and a caretaker of numerous chickens, goats and cats. A client of Angel's Corner Food Bank and Advocacy Program, Rentz also helped in fundraising for the local fire department. She previously also went by the last name of Beard. Ms. Rentz worked at the Grand Canyon and in Valle for several years. Friends described her as a hard worker and an independent woman overcoming financial and emotional obstacles, who had earned the respect of many who knew her. Ms. Rentz has no known surviving family. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Williams Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1111 Stockmens Road, in Williams. Norvel Owens Mortuary is handling arrangements.
