The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, April 27, 2003 Florence Melson Tate, 91, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, died April 6, 2003 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary H. Melson. She attended Forty Fort schools and was a member of Forty Fort Methodist Church. She attended Mansfield State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Bloomsberg State University in 1935. She taught in public elementary schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Arizona and retired from her teaching career in 1976. Her last teaching position was at Madison Meadows Elementary School where she taught in the 4th grade for 16 years. She had moved from Sun City, Arizona to Farmington Hills, Michigan in December 2002. She is survived by her husband, Verlin Tate, and son, Jeffrey Tate, of Farmington Hills, Michigan and brothers, Robert Melson of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and Thomas Melson of Vero Beach, Florida.
