ROGERS, Melvina


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 05/20/2003 Melvina Rogers, 86, died May 14, 2003 in Payson. She was born and raised in Lakeside, graduated from Lakeside High School in 1935. She married Dan Cummings in 1937. They divorced and she later married Orson Loyd Wilkins Sept. 8, 1956, and they were later sealed in the Mesa Temple. He died in 1976 and she later married Gaylord Sayan and they lived in Torrence, California. They had gone together in their early years and after going their separate ways for so many years his wife of 56 years had recently passed away, and they were married in 1995 and were together eight years. Melvina loved to sing and dance. She loved the mountains and enjoyed going camping and fishing whenever she could. She loved her family and her church and served in many callings in the church, always active in whatever she became involved in. Melvina is survived by her husband, Clyde W. Rogers of Taylor; one daughter, Donna Osborne of Taylor; one brother, Carl L. Fish of Sierra Vista; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carla Wigand and sisters Inez Stephens and Nita McCleve and a great grandson, Cade Baca. A viewing will be held one hour to services. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at the Taylor Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be in the R.C. Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
