Flora Marie "Bode" Cole was born June 25, 1946 in New Ulm, Minnesota.
She grew up on a farm in nearby Courtland, the oldest of nine children. She attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school in rural Courtland, Minnesota, Dr. Martin Lutheran High School and College, New Ulm, Minnesota. She received a B.A. in elementary education and taught as a Lutheran elementary teacher.
Flora married Wayne Cole June 7, 1969 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland, Minnesota. They then moved to Cibecue where they raised five children: Caris, Morey, Shauna, Dawn and Daren. Flora was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She had a strong religious conviction and loved music.
Flora suffered an aneurysm in 1991 and had since been in degenerating health. Flora died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, May 28, at Manzanita Manor in Payson.
Flora is survived by her husband; five children, six grandchildren and her eight siblings. She also leaves behind many friends on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. Her father and mother, Wilmer and Marie Bode preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at Fletcher's Mortuary in Show Low Monday, June 2.
