George Edward Rubin, 67, died May 30, 2003 at his home in Concho Valley.
George was born in Helena, Montana. When he was 10 years old his family moved to Phoenix where he completed his education and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. George then went into the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for four years. He served in Korea during the Korean Conflict, after that he joined the U.S. Air Force where served another four years. During the service he met his wife Mae who was also serving in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, George was in communications and he operated the radio station on Okinawa, Japan.
After his discharge from the Air Force they returned to Phoenix where he ran a bar for a time before he started driving truck. George worked for different trucking companies, hauling freight and merchandise all over the valley. George and Mae moved to Concho when he retired in 1988. He had been a member of the Teamsters Union, the American Legion in Phoenix and the VFW in Show Low, and he was of the Lutheran faith.
George is survived by his wife Mae of Concho Valley; two sons, Norman E. Rubin of Concho Valley, Kenneth R. Rubin of Beaumont, Texas; one daughter, Kara Wallace of Phoenix; one brother, Gary L. Rubin of Concho; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
