SIMPSON, Florence L.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 06/20/2003 Florence L. Simpson, 77, died June 9, 2003 in Alpine. Florence was born in Portales, New Mexico July 24, 1925. Florence married Sterling "Punk" Simpson as a young woman and they spend the most of their 38 years together in Alpine. She was a beloved and wonderful mom, mother-in-law, grandmother; great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Florence is survived by her son; Danny F. (Roxanna) Simpson of Alpine; daughter, Barbara (Coy) Clendennen of Fredonia; sister, Jeannie (Don) Kastner; and brother, Jack Fortenberry of Tacoma, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband "Punk" and daughter, Wilma Green; brothers, Weldon and Glen Fortenberry; sisters, Ruby Cade and Artie Towe. Funeral services was held Saturday, June 14 at the Alpine Elementary School gymnasium at 10 a.m. Interment was at the Alpine Cemetery. Jewkes Mortuary in Springerville was in charge of the arrangements.
