Jim Jobski - On the eve of the burial of Richard Charlie, a Wickenburg teen-ager who died in a traffic accident Sunday July 25, a tragic mishap struck down another youth, Jim Jobski, 18 of Aguila.
The Community was shocked at the dual tragedies.
Jobski was fatally injured when a truck tire he was working on at this father’s garage in Aguila exploded. The metal rim of the tire flew off and struck the youth in the head. He was rushed by ambulance to the Wickenburg Community Hospital, where doctors discovered that his injuries were so severe that he would have to be transferred to Phoenix.
An Air Force helicopter was dispatched from Luke Air Force Base to transport the youth to Phoenix, but by the time the helicopter arrived here, Jobski was in such serious condition that he could not be moved. Doctor Dale Grey, aided by sheriff’s deputies, made a dramatic attempt to save the boy’s life by applying external heart message for almost two hours. Their efforts were to no avail. Jim Jobski, just one month away from his 19th birthday, died of massive head injuries at Wickenburg Community Hospital
He was born in Elko, Nevada, and came to Arizona with his family in 1957. A 1970 graduate of Wickenburg High School, he was employed for the summer oat his father’s garage where the accident occurred. He was a student at Glendale Community College.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John F. Jobski of Aguila; three brothers, John F. Jr., of Wenden; Jerry L. of Phoenix and Glen of Aguila, and one sister, Janet of Aguila.
