POWERS, Dorothy E.

Dorothy E. Powers died 12/11/02 at the age of 84. She was born in 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and raised in Kansas. Dorothy graduated as a dietitian from the University of Kansas in 1941. She married George H. Powers, M.D. in 1943. They lived their lives fully and adventurously with offspring in tow. She was artistic, enjoyed snorkeling and sailing and traveling. She so enjoyed her family and friends; Professionally she was best known for co-authoring a book on food medication interactions. She is survived by her husband, George Powers, M.D.; son Michael Powers, M.D., and his wife Linda; daughter Pam Powers, M.D., and her husband Michael Pierce; son Jerry Powers, M.D., and his wife Karen; grandchildren and great grandchildren. An open house for celebration of her life will be held at their home on Sunday, December 15, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Heard Museum, 2301 N.
