Leona Bullard Raper, 83, passed away Dec. 10, 2002. She was born in Welch, Oklahoma on Nov. 22, 1919 and moved to Phoenix in 1927.
A graduate of Phoenix Union H.S., Leona lived a long and gracious life caring for all of her friends and family. She was employed for many years with Lockheed at Luke AFB before retiring in 1984. Her favorite activities included reading, gardening, and taking trips to Mexico and Las Vegas. Leona will always be remembered as a doting and endearing mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all of those who knew and loved her throughout her life. She always looked out for everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. To know her was a blessing.
She was predeceased by husband, Auvis (Dee) Raper, sisters May Bullard and Irene Copolla, brothers Ace, Jess, Bill, Don and Orley Bullard and is survived by brothers Chester and Carl Bullard, daughter Maryla Dee Raper, son, Steve M. Yarborough, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 15th at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ, where the Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 16th. Interment to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Vista Hospice, 1616 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016.
