ARMSTRONG, (DR.), Robert B.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Monday, April 28, 2003 Dr. Robert B. Armstrong, 70, passed away on April 1, 2003 in Sarasota, Florida. He was born January 28, 1933 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He was a gastroenterologist in private practice at the Physicians Professional Corporation in Phoenix from 1973-1993. During that time he also served as Chief of Gastroenterology at St. Joseph's Hospital. Prior to coming to Arizona, he graduated form West Virginia University in 1955, and Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1959. From 1959-1963 at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital he did a rotation internship and a 3 year residency in internal medicine. He served as a Staff Internist-LCDR at the United States Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, New Hampshire 1963-1967. On leaving the Navy he completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic. He was a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine-Diplomat, American College of Physicians, and American Society of Internal Medicine. Survivors include his wife Joedy of Sarasota, Florida, daughter Jennifer Kurtzman of Phoenix, sons Robert of Phoenix and David of Sarasota, brothers William of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and James of Cape May, New Jersey, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, 8700 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida.
